The Pit: a ranked descent every other week
The Pit is Cromon Quest's ranked descent, open one week in two: a tower of wave fights that gets deadlier the deeper you go. Every other Monday you muster a crew of 3 to 20 Cromons and take them down, one 3v3 wave at a time, with a champion every 5 floors and a raid boss every 10. Wounds carry between waves and a knockout is final, so how far you push is a gamble against your crew's health. Depth milestones bank Shards, CroCoin and Pit Embers down to floor 55, and one leaderboard per Pit, deepest floor first, crowns a podium with equippable titles and a free NFT mint each. Every floor ending in 0 also earns a draw ticket, and 3 Premium free mints are drawn among all tickets at the settle with a published hash and a revealed seed anyone can replay. It runs in your browser on Cronos, and new Keepers start with three free starter Cromons.
How a Pit descent works
-
1
Muster your crew
Pick 3 to 20 Cromons at the door. They lock into the run and cannot be used anywhere else until it ends, so choose a bench deep enough to trade blows.
-
2
Descend wave by wave
Fight 3v3 waves down the tower, a champion on the floors ending in 5 and a raid boss every 10, fought 3v1. Wounds stick between attempts and a knockout is final for the descent.
-
3
Spend energy, come back
Each attempt costs 1 descent energy, win or lose. It refills one point back every hour up to 10, so you push a little further each time you return through the week.
-
4
Bank or bust
Loot rides in a sack that is only yours once you Bank and end. Push too deep and get wiped, and you lose the whole sack plus that run's floor. One free full heal helps, then more cost Shards.
-
5
Climb the board
Your best banked run scores on deepest floor, then on how far into the next floor it got, then on who banked first. The top 3 take a podium and an equippable title at the settle; floor 50 banked earns the "Abyss Walker" title for good.
How hard does each floor get?
Every enemy in a wave rolls its stats between 3 and 6, plus 0.5 per floor, clamped at 40: floor 20 enemies sit around 13 to 16 per stat, and a regular wave only touches the ceiling from floor 67, a boss from floor 60. Champions, on floor 5, 15, 25 and every later floor ending in 5, add 2 on top and are always a single element; a regular wave has a 30% chance of being mono-element too, which is where the type chart pays. Bosses every 10 floors carry 58 HP per floor and stats multiplied by 1.25. Each won wave grants 30 XP plus 10 per floor, through the shared daily cap. Wounds carry between waves, so the flasks matter: the first full heal of a descent is free, the next cost 400 and 800 Shards, and 3 is the limit per descent.
What do the milestones pay, floor by floor?
Each milestone pays once per Pit: the second descent never re-farms the shallow floors, it only adds the ones the first did not bank. Pit Embers are the deep-end prize, 6 of them up to floor 35 and 13 over the whole ladder, and they are part of the price of the upper levels of the three Camp buildings built for this mode. The floors ending in 0 also hand out a draw ticket the moment their wave is won (a floor skipped by the Express Lift pays no ticket, like its milestone), kept even if the crew is wiped afterwards: at the settle, 3 Premium free mints are drawn among all the tickets of the Pit, one per Keeper, the podium included.

How do the podium and the draw settle, and when does the next Pit open?
The week closes on Monday at 00:00 UTC and the podium settles a few hours later, once every open descent has been banked or wiped. One board, three criteria in order: the deepest floor you banked, then how far into the next floor your run got, then who banked that score first. The top 3 take Shards, CroCoin, a Pit Ember for the winner and an equippable title, and a free mint each: Ultra for #1, Ultra for #2, Premium for #3, added to the winner's wallet by the team after the settle, which is why the winner's currency is lower than the runner-up's. A descent costs 2 Aether and you get 2 per Pit; a Pit opens every 14 days on a Monday at 00:00 UTC and stays open 7 days, then the elevator rests until the next one. The crew is locked until you bank, so the usual plan is a careful first descent for the milestones and a second one that pushes for the board.
| Rank | Shards | CroCoin | Pit Ember | Title | Mint |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| #1 | 500 | 280 | 1 | Pit Lord | Ultra Freemint |
| #2 | 1,300 | 140 | Void Foreman | Ultra Freemint | |
| #3 | 550 | 70 | Depth Delver | Premium Freemint |
The draw comes right after the podium. Winning the wave of floor 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 earns one draw ticket per floor, once per Pit, kept through a wipe. At the settle, 3 Premium free mints are drawn among every ticket of the Pit, one lot per Keeper, the podium included, so more tickets mean more chances and never two lots. The draw is committed before the first ticket exists: the Pit's secret seed is published as a SHA-256 hash in the lobby on opening day and revealed at the settle, the ticket list is public in order, and the rule is written out in the lobby (h0 = sha256(seed:count:lastTicketId), hk = sha256(h(k-1):k), winner k = the first 12 hex digits of hk modulo the tickets still in the pool). Nothing runs on chain, so verifying it costs nobody a transaction.
The Pit at a glance
The Pit questions, answered
When is the Pit open?
A Pit opens every 14 days, on a Monday at 00:00 UTC, and stays open for 7 days: one open week, then a week of rest before the next tower. The lobby counts down to the next opening, and the podium settles a few hours after the close.
How long does a Pit descent take?
It is paced across the week, not one sitting. Every wave attempt spends 1 descent energy, and energy refills one point back every hour up to 10, so you come back a few times to push deeper. Your crew stays committed to the run until you bank, so banking is how you free them again.
Can I use my Cromons elsewhere during a Pit run?
No. The crew you muster is locked into the descent and cannot join the Arena, Expeditions, the mine, Shadow Run, the Gauntlet or a marketplace listing until the run ends. They all come back together the moment you bank, get wiped, or the week rolls over on Monday; the Field Infirmary can release a knocked-out member to the other modes early, never to the marketplace.
What happens if my crew is wiped?
Wounds carry between waves and a knockout is final for the rest of the descent. If your whole crew goes down you lose that run's sack of unbanked loot and the floor it sat on, so banking before a risky wave is the real skill of the mode.
What rewards does the Pit give?
Depth milestones bank Shards, CroCoin and Pit Embers into a sack you keep once you bank; the ladder runs to floor 55, with Pit Embers as the deep-end prize. Winning a wave also grants XP. At the settle, one leaderboard awards a top 3 podium with Shards, CroCoin and an equippable title, and banking a descent at floor 50 or deeper earns the permanent "Abyss Walker" title. The top 3 also win a free NFT mint (Ultra, Ultra, Premium), and 3 Premium free mints are drawn among the draw tickets earned on floors 10, 20, 30, 40, 50.
How is the Pit draw made, and can I check it?
Every floor ending in 0 you win earns a draw ticket, once per Pit, kept even if the crew is wiped later. At the settle, 3 Premium free mints are drawn among all tickets, one lot per Keeper, the podium included. The Pit's seed is published as a SHA-256 hash on opening day and revealed at the settle, the ticket list is public, and the rule is written in the lobby, so anyone can replay the draw without a blockchain transaction.
How is the leaderboard scored?
One ranking: the deepest floor you banked, then how far into the next floor your run got (the share of its HP you dealt before banking), then who banked that score first. Everyone faces the same floors at their first and second descent, so the board measures skill, not luck.
