The Council
The Council is how Cromon Quest, the creature-collection RPG on Cronos, decides what to build next: the team puts a question to the Keepers, and the Keepers vote. Voting power is one vote per Cromon NFT you own, so a collector has more say than a newcomer but nobody has a veto, and a poll may cap any single wallet. A vote can be a single choice, several choices, votes spread across proposals, or a yes-or-no on each proposal, where 70% approval is the bar to pass. The result is binding on the roadmap: the first Council asked which new game mode to build next, the second which strategy layer combat should gain first, and the winning proposal is what gets built. The three free starter Cromons do not vote, because they are not on chain. Free to start; the first minted Cromon is the first ballot.
How does a Council vote work?
- A question is posed. It comes with a short brief, several proposals, and the case for each one, drafted from what Keepers have been asking on Discord. The poll states its ballot type and its closing time.
- Your power is counted. One vote per Cromon in your wallet at the time you vote, capped if the poll says so. Starters are not counted; a Cromon bought on the marketplace counts the day it lands.
- You cast it. On a choice ballot you pick; on a weighted ballot you spread your votes across proposals in whatever split you like; on an approval ballot you answer yes or no to every proposal.
- The result is applied. Live or at close, the winning proposal becomes work, and the changelog records the release it turned into.
Why one vote per Cromon?
Because it is the only weight that cannot be faked for free. A vote per wallet invites a thousand empty wallets; a vote per Keeper name invites the same. A Cromon NFT is a thing you minted or bought, so it measures how much of the game you actually hold. It also keeps the vote where the consequences land: the Keepers who will play with a new mode for months are the ones deciding on it. The cap exists for the other edge: a poll can limit any single wallet so that one large collection cannot settle a question alone.
The starters, Kindlekin, Pladdle and Sproutara, are granted off chain to every new account, which is exactly why they carry no vote: a ballot that came free with sign-up would be a ballot anyone could print.
What has the Council decided so far?
Two questions have closed. The first asked which new game mode should be built next, with candidates drawn from the community's wishlist. The second, "Combat gets deeper: which strategy layer do we forge first?", chose between ways of making a 3v3 fight more than a stat comparison, in a game where the Dojo and the Arena formation grid already give a team roles. The third question, on what rarity should actually change in play, is the next on the table: today a Legendary is a rarer picture rolling the same dice, and the proposals are six different ways to give it teeth.
What the Council is not
It is not a token, and voting earns nothing. There is no governance coin to buy, no reward for casting a ballot, and no way to sell your vote separately from your Cromons. It is also not a suggestion box: every question put to the Council is one the team has committed to act on, which is why there are few of them and each one is prepared with a written case per proposal. A game built in the open needs a place where "the community wanted it" is a fact with a number attached, and that is what the Council is for.
Council questions
Who can vote in the Council?
Any Keeper who owns at least one Cromon NFT. Voting power is one vote per Cromon you own, and the three free starters do not count: they are off-chain grants, so a wallet with only starters has a voice on Discord but no ballot. A poll can cap the power of a single wallet.
What kinds of votes are there?
Four. A single-choice ballot picks one proposal; a multi-choice ballot lets you back several; a weighted ballot spreads your votes across proposals as you see fit; an approval ballot asks yes or no on every proposal independently, each judged against the same bar.
When does a proposal pass?
On an approval ballot, when at least 70% of the votes cast on it say yes, unless the poll sets its own bar. On a choice ballot, the proposal with the most votes wins. Results are shown live during the vote or revealed at close, as each poll decides.
Does a vote actually change the game?
Yes, that is the contract. A Council question is asked because the team has not decided, and the winning proposal is what gets built next. The first Council asked which game mode to build next; the second, which strategy layer combat should gain first. What ships from a vote lands in the changelog like any release.
Can I propose something?
Not through the ballot itself: proposals are drafted by the team from what Keepers ask for on Discord, then put to the Council with a short case for each. The Discord is where an idea becomes a proposal; the Council is where it becomes a decision.
