Expeditions: idle resource runs
Expeditions are the idle game loop of Cromon Quest, a creature-collection RPG on Cronos. You send your Cromon NFTs into the Crystal Void (the game's world) on a timed run, from a 1-hour errand to a 24-hour trek, and collect the rewards when the timer completes. Each expedition has a rarity tier that sets its loot table of Shards and CroCoin, with a small chance of a bonus Cromite, and matching your Cromon's element to the mission adds 5%, and meeting its stat bar on every Cromon sent adds 5% more. Runs need one to three Cromons, and you pick from three daily offers. Nothing requires you to stay online: send the team from your browser, come back later, collect, repeat. Free to start: every new Keeper receives three starter Cromons, enough for a first mission right away.
How Expeditions work
-
1
Pick a mission
Three offers roll daily, each with a duration and a rarity tier. Rarer tiers carry richer loot tables; one refresh of the board a day is free, then 1 to 8 CroCoin.
-
2
Assign your Cromons
Runs need one to three Cromons by tier. Element matches earn a bonus, and a deployed Cromon is busy until the run completes.
-
3
Let the timer run
Fully idle: close the tab, live your life. The mission completes on its own.
-
4
Collect and go again
Bank Shards and CroCoin, sometimes a bonus Cromite, then start the next run.
What does each expedition tier pay?
Five tiers, and the payout climbs far faster than the timer. A Common hour pays 10 to 16 Shards and almost no CroCoin; a Legendary day pays 350 to 500 Shards and 25 to 45 CroCoin, roughly thirty times the Shards for twenty-four times the hours. The price is the team it locks: three Cromons for a full day and 3 Aether. The ranges below are the live values the game rolls from, per tier.
| Tier | Length | Cromons | Aether | Shards | CroCoin |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 1h | 1 | Free | 10 to 16 | 0 to 1 |
| Uncommon | 3h | 1 | 1 | 25 to 35 | 1 to 3 |
| Rare | 6h | 2 | 2 | 60 to 80 | 5 to 8 |
| Epic | 12h | 2 | 2 | 135 to 200 | 13 to 19 |
| Legendary | 24h | 3 | 3 | 350 to 500 | 25 to 45 |
How do the daily offers and my expedition rank work?
Three offers roll every day, and each one draws its tier independently from a pool weighted by your expedition rank, which follows your Keeper level: Rookie up to level 5, Keeper 6 to 15, Tamer 16 to 25, Explorer 26 to 35, Vanguard 36 to 45, Chainmaster 46 to 50. A Rookie sees mostly Common and Uncommon runs; a Chainmaster sees a third Rare, a third Epic and 13% Legendary. Levelling up is therefore the real loot multiplier of this mode, and the Arena, the maze, the Pit and the Weekly Mine all feed the same XP curve, while expeditions themselves pay no XP. The board can be refreshed when none of the three fits your free Cromons, once a day for free and then for 1, 2, 4 and 8 CroCoin, and an offer stays on it until you send a team, refresh the board, or the next day rolls new ones at midnight CET.
| Rank | Common | Uncommon | Rare | Epic | Legendary |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rookie | 55% | 30% | 11% | 3% | 1% |
| Keeper | 42% | 35% | 16% | 5% | 2% |
| Tamer | 27% | 36% | 24% | 9% | 4% |
| Explorer | 17% | 31% | 31% | 14% | 7% |
| Vanguard | 10% | 24% | 34% | 22% | 10% |
| Chainmaster | 6% | 16% | 33% | 32% | 13% |
How do the type and stat bonuses work?
Each mission names one element and one stat bar, such as Speed 20 or Attack 16. Sending a Cromon of the named element adds 5% to the whole haul, and meeting the stat bar on every Cromon sent adds another 5%, so the ceiling is +10% and Cromite boosts count toward the bar. Longer tiers need bigger teams: one Cromon for Common and Uncommon, two for Rare and Epic, three for Legendary. A Cromon on a run is locked out of the Arena, the mines, the maze and the marketplace until it returns, so the size of your roster sets how many loops you can run at once, and the Camp's Expedition Hall raises the number of parallel expeditions from one to four.
Expeditions at a glance
Expedition questions, answered
How long does an Expedition take?
From 1 hour for a quick run up to 24 hours for the longest hauls, with steps at 3, 6 and 12 hours in between. Longer missions pay more, so you pick the rhythm that fits your day.
What do Expeditions reward?
Shards and CroCoin, with a small chance of a bonus Cromite, a permanent stat-boost item. Rarer expedition tiers carry richer loot tables, and matching your Cromon's element to the mission adds a bonus.
How many Cromons does an Expedition need?
One to three, depending on the tier: a short Common run needs a single Cromon, the 24-hour Legendary trek needs three. Sending a team costs 0 to 3 Aether by tier, and you choose from 3 daily offers, with one free refresh a day and paid ones (1 to 8 CroCoin) after that.
Do I need to stay online during an Expedition?
No. Expeditions are fully idle: send the team, close the tab, and collect the haul once the timer is done.
Can a Cromon on an Expedition still battle?
No, a deployed Cromon is busy until the run completes, unless you recall it early for 1 Aether and 20% of the haul. Building a deep enough roster to grind and battle at the same time is part of the strategy.
