The Deeps: idle mining for permanent stat boosts
The Deeps is the idle mining game inside Cromon Quest: you assign your Cromon NFTs to lanes in themed elemental mines, and they keep digging while you are away, at half speed for up to 6 hours per absence. Ore buys deeper lanes, breaks obstacles and upgrades the elevator and the surface factory, and progression pays out in Cromite: crystallized essence that grants a Cromon a permanent stat boost, up to +10 per stat. The 7 mines unlock in sequence, starting in the molten veins of Fire Gorge, bigger or harder than the last. Everything runs in your browser on Cronos, and starting is free: every new Keeper receives three starter Cromons, ready to swing a pickaxe.

How The Deeps works
-
1
Assign your miners
Cromons dig in parallel lanes. Deeper lanes demand stronger stats and produce far more ore, and typed lanes pay +15% to a matching element.
-
2
Keep digging while away
Mining is idle: away production runs at half speed and banks up to 6 hours per absence, so checking in a few times a day earns the most.
-
3
Spend ore to go deeper
Buy lanes, break timed obstacles, upgrade the elevator and factory. Every mine is a long, satisfying dig to 100%.
-
4
Refine Cromite, boost forever
Milestones pay Cromite: permanent stat boosts, up to +10 per stat, that follow the Cromon into every battle.
How do lanes, levels and stat gates work?
A mine opens with lane 1 free and the rest to buy with its own ore. Every lane levels on its own up to 100, and each level multiplies its output, by 1.04 in Fire Gorge and Coral Hollow and by 1.07 with a doubling every 10 levels in the five deeper mines, so a level 72 lane out-digs a fresh one many times over. Deeper lanes ask for stronger Cromons: the gate to assign one is the sum of its stats, Cromite included, from 30 on lane 1 to 145 on lane 16, and in Fire Gorge and Coral Hollow a second miner doubles a lane at level 50. Typed lanes, 4 in Fire Gorge and 9 in Zephyr Shafts, pay +15% to the matching element and -33% to the wrong one. Twin lanes pay +15% each when both hold the same species and -30% for a real Cromon otherwise, and a contested lane invaded by the mine's opposite element runs at -50% unless a Cromon of the mine's own element holds it. Robots, the free helper miners, dig at 60% on a plain lane and 50% on a typed one.
What are obstacles, shift orders and the away rate?
Obstacles block the descent: three in Fire Gorge, after lane 4, 8 and 12: timed digs of 60 minutes, 4 hours and 12 hours, each opening the next four lanes, and up to seven in the deeper mines, where every obstacle past the third waits 24 hours; any of them can be skipped for 10 CroCoin per remaining hour. Shift orders are set per block of lanes and can be changed once every 8 hours: Standard is balanced, Blitz pays 125% while you are active and only a quarter of the full rate away, Long Shift pays 80% active, the standard away rate, and stretches that block's away bank to 9 hours. Active means a real action within 20 minutes: an open tab alone earns the away rate, which is 50% for up to 6 hours per absence. The elevator and the surface factory level to 160 and cap the throughput of the whole mine, so lanes and buildings are raised together.
How is Cromite earned, and what does it do?
Cromite is the mode's prize, and it is earned by progressing, not by ore totals. Every mine hands out 18 typed Cromite, three per stat, tied to lane purchases and broken obstacles: in Fire Gorge every lane after the first grants one (lane 2 Attack, lane 3 Defense, lane 4 HP, then Speed, Critical and Resolve, cycling down to lane 16) and each of its three obstacles one more, while the deeper mines spread the same 18 over fewer lanes and more obstacles. Completing a mine pays 9 neutral Cromite, and once a mine sits at 100% a daily claim opens: keep 3 to 6 real Cromons digging (the count rises with the mine) for 10 hours and it pays 2 to 5 neutral Cromite, in exchange for the mine's whole ore stockpile. Applied to a Cromon, a typed Cromite raises that stat and a neutral one raises the stat of your choice at twice the price, permanently and in every mode: one Cromite per point for the first three points of a stat, more after, up to +10. The boost survives a fusion. The 7 mines open in sequence, Fire Gorge, Coral Hollow, Thornroot Grove, Basalt Cavern, Voltaic Rift, Luminous Canyon and Zephyr Shafts, each with its own ore and up to 9 typed lanes, so a roster that covers the ten elements is what keeps the whole chain digging at full rate.
The Deeps at a glance
Mining questions, answered
What is Cromite used for?
Cromite is the endgame of The Deeps: crystallized essence you apply to a Cromon for a permanent stat boost, up to +10 per stat. It is how a mined Cromon ends up outfighting an identical unmined one.
Is mining idle or active?
Both. Assigned Cromons keep digging on their own, at half speed while you are away (each absence banks up to 6 hours of ore), and checking in to buy lanes, break obstacles and upgrade the elevator and factory pushes a mine toward 100%.
What are typed lanes?
Some lanes carry an element. A Cromon of the matching element mines 15% faster there, a wrong-element Cromon loses 33%, and robots (free helper miners) dig at -40% on normal lanes and -50% on typed ones.
How many mines are there in The Deeps?
7 themed mines are open today, each with its own ore and element, unlocked in sequence: finishing one mine opens the next, the deeper ones demanding near-perfect Cromons, and new mines keep joining the roster.
Do daily quests exist in The Deeps?
Yes. Once a mine is at 100%, keeping enough real Cromons mining for 10 hours in a day completes its daily quest and pays neutral Cromite on claim, in exchange for the mine's ore stockpile.
