The Cromon marketplace
The marketplace of Cromon Quest is where Keepers buy and sell Cromon NFTs directly on the Cronos blockchain, priced in CRO. A seller lists a Cromon at a price of their choosing and the token moves into an on-chain escrow; a buyer pays the price plus a 5% fee and receives the NFT in the same transaction, with the seller getting the listed amount in full. There is no seller commission and no bidding: a Cromon sells at the price its owner set, or not at all. Because every Cromon carries its six attribute values on chain, you can read exactly what you are buying, stat by stat, before you pay. Trading is optional: three starter Cromons are granted free when you connect a wallet.
How does a sale work?
Four steps, all on chain, with the contract holding the Cromon in between so neither side has to trust the other:
- You list. You pick one of your Cromons and a price in CRO. The NFT transfers into the marketplace contract, which records the listing and the moment it started.
- A buyer pays. They send the price plus the 5% fee in one transaction. The contract deletes the listing before moving anything, so the same Cromon can never be sold twice.
- The Cromon moves, the CRO moves. The NFT goes to the buyer and the listed price is pushed straight to your wallet. If that push fails, the amount is credited to you and you withdraw it yourself: the sale still completes.
- Or you cancel. The Cromon comes back to you, and it comes back even when the marketplace is paused for maintenance. Listing is blocked in that state; reclaiming your own asset never is.
What does it cost to buy or to sell?
Three numbers, all enforced by the contract rather than by us: a 5% fee paid by the buyer on top of the price, no commission on the seller side, and a 2% penalty if a seller cancels within 72 hours of listing.
The early-cancel penalty exists for one reason: a listing that vanishes the moment someone tries to buy it wastes everyone's gas. After 72 hours, a listing is yours to withdraw at no cost.
What are you actually buying?
An ERC-721 token that is one of the 120 Cromon species, with its own six attribute values rolled at mint: HP, ATK, DEF, SPD, CRIT and RESOLVE. Two Cromons of the same species are not the same asset: their stat rolls differ, and the sum of those six values is the perfection percentage a buyer weighs first. A Cinderwing with a high roll and one with a low roll share artwork and nothing else.
Rarity is the second axis, and it is fixed on chain: 36 Common species, 36 Uncommon, 28 Rare, 13 Epic and only 7 Legendary. The types and rarities guide explains what each pool is worth in a fight, and every species page carries its own matchups.
How do you price a listing?
The marketplace shows the state of the book above the listings: the current floor, the volume over 24 hours and 7 days, and the average sale price of the last 30 days. Under it, the ask depth groups live listings into price bands (under 50 CRO, 50 to 100, 100 to 200, 200 to 500, and above), so you can see where the mass of the book actually sits instead of guessing from the floor.
One listing far below the rest drags the floor down without telling you anything about what Cromons sell for, which is why the depth bands and the average sale matter more than the single cheapest ask. Price against the band your Cromon belongs to, then let the stat roll justify the difference.
What protects both sides?
The escrow, and the order the contract does things in. A listing is deleted before the NFT or the CRO moves, so a sale cannot be replayed. A payout that fails, because a wallet is a contract that refuses to receive, is credited for withdrawal instead of reverting the sale. Cancellation is never blocked, even while the rest of the marketplace is paused. And the fees that accumulate are the only thing the operator can withdraw: the CRO of an active listing never passes through the contract's balance.

Marketplace questions
How much does it cost to buy a Cromon?
The listed price plus a 5% buyer fee, paid in CRO in the same transaction, plus the usual Cronos gas (a few cents). The seller receives the listed price in full: there is no seller-side commission.
Can I cancel a listing?
Yes, at any time. Cancelling within 72 hours of listing costs a 2% penalty on the listed price; after that window it is free. Your Cromon returns to your wallet either way.
Where is my Cromon while it is listed?
In the marketplace contract, held in escrow. That is what lets a buyer pay and receive the NFT in one transaction with nobody to trust in between. You can always cancel and take it back, even if the marketplace is paused.
Can I make an offer on a Cromon that is not listed?
No. The contract has no bid side: it holds listings and fills them. What you see is the ask side of the book plus the trade history, and a Cromon can only be bought at the price its owner set.
Do I need to trade to play Cromon Quest?
No. Free to start: connect a wallet and receive three starter Cromons, then play every mode with them. The marketplace exists for Keepers who want a specific species, a higher stat roll, or the third copy of a Cromon they are about to forge.
